Welcome to Drammen!
Drammen city (pronounced as: drδmn) is the "capital" of Buskerud fylke (county) lays in south-eastern Norway, located at the junction of the Drammen River with Drammmens Fjord, southwest of Oslo.  The area was first settled in the 13th century as two separate communities, Bragernes and Strømsøy.  Each was granted common town privileges in 1715. In 1811 they merged with Tangen to form the present city. The locals will claim that  'Drammen was made by the river' and there should be no doubt that the situation has made Drammen to a natural harbour for centuries.

The Vikings used the Fjord more than 1000 years ago, to carry their goods from foreign travels.  The Snorre Tales, dated 1070, describes how the Vikings sailed their Viking ships up the Drofn Fjord.  The name 'Drofn'  was since then turned into the name of the city of Drammen.

A Railway Connection to  Oslo was already built in 1870.  Today, this trip takes about 40 minutes  (40km).

Drammens central situation has made the city to a natural service center for the region. The paper industry has almost disappeared and new business and commerce 'rules the ground'

Drammenshallen Drammenshallen is situated at Marienlyst Park on the south side of the river (Strømsø), and it is the largest indoor sport shall in the area.   Drammenshallen is close to the E18-exit where E134 meets E18.  From the exit - drive towards Town Centre (westbound) - and Drammenshallen will appear on your left hand side after approximately 500 meters.

Parking At the front of the arena.       Capacity 4 handball floors - or one central - capacity 4000 spectators. Drammen Håndballklubb's office is in Drammenhallens office area - left hand side of the main entrance.
